Guard spokesman Col. Greg Hapgood said Spc. Timothy Bagley, 21, of Brandon and Sgt. Eric Lindsey, 30, of Eldora were injured Monday on combat operations when their vehicle hit an IED. Both soldiers are members of an Iowa Falls-based company with the 34th Infantry Division.

04/07/11 DoD: Marine Casualty Identified Staff Sgt. Jeremy D. Smith, 26, of Arlington, Texas, died April 6 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, based out of Houston, Texas.

04/07/11 AP: Suicide Bombers Strike Afghanistan Police Compound Suicide bombers and gunmen stormed an Afghan police compound Thursday, setting off explosions and firing assault rifles in a coordinated attack that killed six members of the Afghan security forces. American Black Hawk helicopters and at least eight U.S. armored vehicles rushed to support dozens of Afghan troops battling the assailants at the three-building police complex in restive Kandahar province. It was unclear how many insurgents were involved in the attack.

04/07/11 AP: NATO kills policeman who shot US trainers NATO says a joint operation by Afghan and coalition troops killed a border policeman who had shot dead two U.S. soldiers earlier this week. NATO says the operation took place in northern Faryab province on Thursday and also led to the arrest of two insurgents.

04/07/11 AFP: Afghan policeman kills two US troops Afghanistan, AFP - Two American soldiers from the NATO alliance were shot dead by an Afghan border policeman in the north of the country, military officials said. NATO confirmed the deaths, the latest attack on international soldiers, and said it was investigating the incident which occurred inside a police compound on Monday while US military advisers were holding talks with a local colonel.

04/06/11 AP: NATO repels insurgent attack in east Afghanistan NATO forces killed seven insurgents who tried to storm their way onto a base in eastern Afghanistan, the coalition said Wednesday. NATO said the attack was carried out late Tuesday in the city of Jalalabad by insurgents firing assault rifles and rocket propelled grenades. A statement from the coalition added that NATO forces returned fire and called in an attack helicopter. It said there were no coalition casualties; there were no further details on the killed insurgents.
